Probably the medium you have inserted is not bootable by your computer. You can use an USB drive for the reinstallation of Mac OS 10.4 . However, if I recall right, iMac G5 is capable of running 10.5 Leopard as well. It doesn't really matter. I am gonna continue this answer with the assumption of you have a disk image of either 10.4 or 10.5, as well as your mac is currently working or you have access to another mac; since you have mentioned you downloaded the disk image in question itself.
This is the final version of Mac OS X which can support the PowerPC structure as snow leopard function only on Intel-based Macs. The latest released is 10.5.8 (Build 9L31a) on August 13, 2009. Its kernel type is hybrid (XNU). This version is preceded by Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and succeeded by Mac OS X snow leopard. It is the first operating system that has open-source BSD to be certified as fully UNIX cooperative.
Supported platforms: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), 10.5 (Leopard), 10.6 (Snow Leopard), 10.7 (Lion), 10.8 (Mountain Lion), 10.9 (Mavericks), 10.10 (Yosemite), 10.11 (El Capitan), 10.12 (Sierra), macOS 10.13 (High Sierra), macOS 10.14 (Mojave), macOS 10.15 (Catalina), macOS 11 (Big Sur), macOS 12 (Monterey), and macOS 13 (Ventura)
rEFInd manages the EFI based boot process. It is installed into one of the disk's partitions, the choice of which is up to you after being exposed to the options the rEFInd installation instructions offer. openSUSE Leap 42.3 and 15.0 overwrite the default EFI boot manager, leaving impossible to load MacOS. Therefore it is necessary to install rEFInd after installing Linux. On some of the Mac hardware a special WiFi driver is needed (see below), so best download the zip file beforehand.
BootCamp was originally released in beta form for OS X 10.4, but is no longer available for download. An alternative is to use the Mac OS X program diskutil. The ability to non-destructively re-size volumes was added to diskutil in OS X 10.4.6 (for more information see macgeekery.com).
Some of the mac wireless cards may not be supported by open source drivers. if you have no wired connection to the internet, you should download the driver beforehand. otherwise you can skip the following and use yast later. There is a relatively complete list of macs and their hardware support on ubuntu help. You can find your Mac version by:
The first release of Boot Camp Assistant was with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger but it was a beta version. It eventually came as a official release for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and has gone through several upgrades since then. While the older versions supported the installation of Windows XP and Vista, Boot Camp 4.0 only supported Windows 7. After that came Boot Camp 5.0, which supported both Windows 7 and Windows 8 but only the 64-bit versions. The latest stable version, Boot Camp 6.1.0, supports latest Windows 10 but hasn't received an update since it was released in 2016.
Step 7: After the Windows installation files are fully copied, the app starts to download Windows Support file from Internet and save it to USB afterwards. If this was not done, then you can use Windows properly on your Mac. And you need to wait more time in this step. The following screenshot is the file structure when the Windows bootable USB is created successfully.
Initially introduced as an unsupported beta for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger,[1][2] the utility was first introduced with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and has been included in subsequent versions of the operating system ever since. Previous versions of Boot Camp supported Windows XP and Windows Vista. Boot Camp 4.0 for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard version 10.6.6 up to Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion version 10.8.2 only supported Windows 7.[3] However, with the release of Boot Camp 5.0 for Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion in version 10.8.3, only 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and Windows 8 are officially supported.[4][5]
Once you have space on your computer, figure out what version of OS X you would like to install. On older versions, you can find the previous versions of OS X installed on your Mac by opening the App Store > Applications and viewing your Purchase page. Click the Install button next to the macOS you want to download.
Certain features could not be used and some were listed on Apple's Boot Camp pages. One example was the iSight camera. I also found that the normal key combination would not work for the second mouse button. The only way to get this essential feature was to use a mouse. Screen shots were also not available (no suitable key on a Mac) so I resorted to a camera. Other items not working were the system clock, which stopped every time the computer was turned off, and the infamous Control, Alt, Delete keys. Apple is aware of these drawbacks and is working on fixes. A few days after I returned the MacBookPro, the OS X (10.4.7) update included a fix for the mouse button problem among other changes.
At home, I downloaded an online multiplayer game: Dark Story. As the ADSL was not cooperating, I saved individual parts, rather than the complete download. The software reassembled these parts and installed this game with no hitches and then, once started, linked to the site to download and install the latest patches. Once complete, I was able to start the game and there were no problems. I did not actually get to play it as the instructions were in Thai and an account was needed. I felt, however, that this demonstrated how demanding software, like games, can be installed on this type of hybrid system.
While the MacBookPro was in my hands, Apple also changed the page on running Windows on Macs and instead of Boot Camp, mentioned that \"Third-party software solutions such as Parallels Desktop for Mac help make it possible.\" Parallels is available for download from the Apple site (Note: I am unable to find this now, so try the Parallels site.).
I am happy to share screenshots which will demonstrate how Ihave successfully run GenoPro on my 2006 Intel iMac. All the screenshots were taken while I was running Windows Vista Home Premium using theVMFusion emulation software. Any Mac user wishing to try this can find a 30 day trial download of VMFusion at the company's website.
I downloaded a trial version of VMFusion and installed it on the Mac. It does not require any partitioning of the drive. During set up the user is asked to define the maximum size to be allotted to the program. As with BootCamp, I found the instructions for setting up VMFusion and the Windows program perfectly clear and it worked with no difficulty. With VMFusion, it is possible to have windows open for both Mac OS and Windows OS simultaneously and to drag and drop files from one window to the other in either direction. VMFusion has several modes, including full-screen which conceals all evidence of the underlying Mac OS. I found GenoPro ran equally well regardless of whether I booted my machine up as a PC or booted as a Mac and ran the emulation program.
BootCamp is free to all users of Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard). Support for MacOSX 10.4 (Tiger) has been discontinued. VMFusion is advertised at $79.95 but a $20 rebate is offered. A copy of Windows must be purchased: here in Toronto it is possible to buy OEM versions for around $100. The OEM version I am running was sold legally by a retail store for about $100, with the proviso that Microsoft does not offer any telephone or online support. Some websites had suggested that OEM versions would not run under BootCamp or VMFusion, but I have not encountered any problems so far.
