Tesseract is the result of a collaboration between Tesseract and Chris Barretto. Chris Barretto is an accomplished musician and producer, making this album one of the best guitarists around. Chris Barretto has produced albums for the likes of The Ocean and Nightwish, as well as his own solo albums. Chris Barretto is known to be a very difficult working musician, and this is only shown in the level of production that is on this album. This album showcases just what a fantastic musician Chris Barretto is, as he is able to change his style of playing at will. With Chris Barretto leading the way, this album is an all out blast of the progressive, ambient, and electronic genres of music.
I find this album very satisfying, even though it is over an hour in length. I find that this album manages to transform itself from one song into the next, blending a progressive metal style into other genres in the process. This allows for the listener to feel satisfied even after playing one song. The one thing I feel is missing is a large emphasis on solos and over the top guitar effects. It is clear that these guys love their instruments, and it is an obvious pleasure to listen to them play. All the musicians bring something to the table in this album, and they all create masterful sounds.
Ashe O'Hara takes the lead vocals on this album, and I must say that he has a very warm and smooth voice. No harsh shouts or screams are present here. O'Hara can sing from deep baritones to higher registers in the mid-range, making him one of the most versatile singers in the progressive metal scene.

His voice trailed off, and she thought she detected a note of bitterness, of a man who had lost out in life. His eyes were slightly narrowed, and he had an air of aloofness, as if his life and achievements were somehow inconsequential in the overall scheme of things.
